Maria stole the show in 2005's Nightveil:Witch War as the villainess Alizarin Crimson, and is soon to be seen in the lead role in the upcoming "THE SANGOR SYNDROME", while Mike also appears as Lon Madnight, the host/narrator of vintage horror classics in AC's Crypt of Horror movie series. Giant monsters were, well...big in the '50's sci-fi cinema, and ATTACK OF THE CRAB MONSTERS is as good an example as any from the time period. This Roger Corman classic features a cast a cut above the usual, with familiar faces including actors Ed Nelson and Russell (The Professor on TV's "Gilligan's Island" series) Johnson. ROBOT MONSTER manages to be equal parts silly and effective in it's post-apocalyptic chess match between the last living family of humans on the Earth and the conflicted & confused alien operative running the human eradication program, the being known as Ro-Man. Special Notes: This long-sought Italian production ( by Ugo Tucci and Fabrizio De Angelias) was marketed in 1980 as an unauthorized sequel to George Romero's DAWN OF THE DEAD, and has achieved cult status among devotes of the zombie genre. With a strong emphasis on graphic gore, this film was also released under the alternate title ZOMBIE FLESH EATERS, advertised with tag lines like "We Are Going To Eat You!"; and "Nobody Under The Age Of 17 Is Allowed To Watch This Film". You've gotta LOVE cannibalistic undead movies to enjoy THIS one!!

Cyclemaniacs assaulting and killing for thrills!!
Special Notes: More drive-in sleaze from the mid-1960's master, producer RUSS MYER. Mindless violence (at a 1960's level) followed by vigilante retribution that leads to an exciting desert chase scene climaxing in a box canyon known as The Cauldron. Lots of violence and busty babes in this "classic" Myer potboiler, originally shown in theatres on a double- bill with FASTER PUSSYCAT KILL KILL. Myer anticipated the 1966 "outlaw biker" movie fad which would start a year after this film's release with Roger Corman's THE WILD ANGELS. Unfortunately, THIS flick is so low-budget that they could only afford Hondas, not Harleys!!

Only Layton's niece SHEILA (Linda Stirling ) and criminologist CRAIG FOSTER (Dennis Moore) stand in MOTA'S way.
Special Notes: This 1945 release is another classic among moviedom's adventure serials from the genre's best period. "Professional villain " Roy Barcroft (who made a career out of playing bad guys in countless Westerns and B-movies for years) turns in a great performance as the Martian emissary MOTA- who is also known as THE PURPLE MONSTER in the context of the story- hence the title. Lovely Linda Stirling, a veteran of multiple other serial roles as well, is solid as the female lead, and the "outer space invasion" theme foreshadows the cinematic postwar science fiction trend soon to come. This DVD is another "can't miss" for all fans of the vintage adventure serial.!

Special Notes: As the decade of the 1950's dawned, science fiction became the new obsession of economy-minded B-movie producers out in Hollywood, and marrying this theme to the tried-and-true formula of the adventure serial brought about some interesting hybrids. This serial is one of them. Along with the fistfights, wrecks and other standard serial shenanigans, this cliffhanger comes complete with deadly extra terrestrials, uranium thefts, high-tech gadgets and aerial combat. A true science-fiction serial.

Synopsis: Investigator Lane Carlson (RICHARD WEBB) must stop The Phantom Ruler (STANLEY PRICE), master criminal with a device that renders him invisible. Carlson resents that he must work with a woman investigator, Carol Richards (ALINE TOWNE). She provides the brains while Lane contributes brawn in this action cliffhanger's many fight scenes.
Special Notes: Yet another example of the transition in marketing that went on in the film industry as the post-war years led into the 1950's. The once-lucrative action/adventure serial niche was beginning to dry up, and the full-fledged science-fiction feature was not yet firmly established, and this serial is strongly rooted in both worlds. Star RICHARD WEBB was to make a major impact in the still-young television world with his portrayal of radio & comic-book icon CAPTAIN MIDNIGHT, and shines here as well as the insurance investigator whose revolver and fists are always at the ready to counter the scheming of a mad scientist.
