Last year’s MEN of MYSTERY #93- The Quality Heroes was by far our most popular issue of MOM for 2014. Well, we here at AC Comics don’t need to have a house fall on us. We got the message. AC readers want MORE material culled from the archives of Everett “Busy” Arnold’s late, great QUALITY COMICS line. It’s taken us a years’ worth of searching, sweat and toil, but MOM #97 will be another all-Quality compilation, even BETTER than the last one!! This issue is chock-full of that lines’ top superheroes, including the headliners/cover features from five of Quality’s classic anthology titles; SMASH, CRACK, FEATURE, HIT and NATIONAL Comics: The RAY, BLACK CONDOR, DOLLMAN, HERCULES and UNCLE SAM!! Of course, the demanding standards of…well…QUALITY… at Quality meant that even the back-up features were good, SO good that a number of Quality “also-rans” maintained their series’ years after other companies’ stars were cancelled; characters like QUICKSILVER, MIDNIGHT, ESPIONAGE, SALLY O’NEILL and The JESTER ran for nearly a decade; they’ll be in this can’t-miss volume as well. Not to mention fascinating experiments in esoterica like The RED BEE, WONDER BOY, WILDFIRE (Jim Mooney’s early “Good Girl” art superheroine), SAMAR, The MARKSMAN, MERLIN, ZERO, and at least a half-dozen more, all in never-previuosly-reprinted adventures straight out of the 1940’s!! One can’t discuss Quality without delving into their art staff- unquestionably THE top comic book illustrators of that era. All those greats will be well-represented in MOM #97. We’ll have a special feature on cover artist REED CRANDALL, with not ONE, not TWO, but THREE superb Crandall-drawn supercharacter stories, one each starring The RAY, DOLLMAN and HERCULES- each one unseen since it’s original publication almost 75 years ago!! But wait (as they say in the infomercials)- there’s MORE!! Lou Fine will be in evidence, with a spectacular BLACK CONDOR story, along with a classic Jack Cole MIDNIGHT adventure. And that’s just the beginning, as their will be heaping helpings from other pen-and-brush luminaries including Paul Gustavson, Al Bryant, Fred Guardineer, Alex Kotzky, Witmer Williams, Max Elkans, Alex Blum, Vernon Henkel, Alex Koda and others. Add it all up and it comes out to a whopping 140 PAGES of great Quality Comics vintage material presented for today’s audience at standard comic-book size, in glistening, crisp, clean black and white, inside full-color covers, for just $29.95. “Quality Comics’ Biggest Stars” will fill up EVERY PAGE of MEN of MYSTERY #97, coming in June, 2015 from AC Comics!
