Countdown To Victory #5 With a V-47-deprived Rad held as captive, the now young and super strong Lady Luger plots with Fritz Voltzman to impersonate Rad. While Colt and Jennifer(the new Ms. V.) get closer to the truth, Singapore Sal and her band of cutthroats return to dry land, intent on ransoming Janis Lawson. When Paragon gets wind of this scheme, he and Harry Diamond conspire to set up the baddies. The ersatz Rad hits downtown Orlando like a tornado, and a battle royal with Jennifer ensues, with Colt, She-cat and Stardust able to offer little help. Enter two wildcards- Too Tall Tara and Synn, who take Luger/rad by surprise. This untitled story is written by Bill Black, drawn by Frank Turner, and inked by Mark Heike. Then, Janis is shaken but returned, and strangely forms more of a bond with Garganta than old friend Tara. When Stella Stargaze surmises that the blode-haired giant woman may have developed new empathic powers, she sees dollar signs, as usual. Meanwhile, newly-encarcerated Iron Jaw finds he has a legal champion- the courthouse lion, attorney Rosenblum. “The Love Goddess” is written by Bill Black, drawn by Frank turner, and inked by Mark Heike. Guest starring T. C. Fremont and Buckaroo Betty. Finally, Rosenblum gets Iron Jaw acquitted- for the purpose of turning him into a money-making attraction- as a professional wrestler!! “The Trail Of Iron Jaw” is written and drawn by Bill Black, and guest stars Harry Diamond, Dr. Jonathan Weir, and Dragonfly. Color GTS cover by Mark Heike, interiors are black and white with graytones. Standard comic book format. Printed in 1992.

I am lucky enough to own a page of original artwork from this issue drawn by Frank Turner. It features Rad dressed as Ms.Victory and Lady Luger dressed as Rad! Makes it kind of hard to keep track knowing that Rad used to be Ms. V.
