Special Notes: None

AC’s last all-female “Women of Mystery” issue of Men of Mystery did so well, we just had to come back with another, so April’s Men of Mystery #114 will be “girls only” once again, with a host of never-before-seen vintage stories starring some of the rarest distaff adventurers of comicdom’s formative years.
Of course, we CAN’T do an issue of MOM without showcasing some character we’ve NEVER reprinted before, so this issue will feature MISS X, Fox Features’ first attempt at a masked/costumed heroine, from her guest-appearances in Mystery Men Comics. (We’ll also be including two “newbies” originally scheduled for MOM #113- MARGO THE MAGICIAN and DIANA THE HUNTRESS, who were both bumped from #113 at the last second due to production problems. We’ve got that all ironed out now, so they will finally see the light of day this issue.)
We’ll also be including some never previously reprinted stories of seldom-seen heroines who have previously made only one or two appearances in MOM, including LADY FAIRPLAY ( here in her origin story); PAT PATRIOT ( drawn by Reed Crandall, in one of his first professional art jobs); WILDFIRE- Jim Mooney and Bob Turner’s seminal “good girl” art superheoine ( in the LAST WF story left that we’ve never run); The BLUE LADY- Centaur Comics’ oddball adventuress; The BLACK ORCHID (NOT the one produced by Continental Pubs, but a completely different one-shot heroine that ran in All New Comics); plus MISS VICTORY; CATMAN’s partner, KITTEN; TIGER GIRL, Matt Baker’s VOODAH, BLONDE BOMBER and more.
Artists on this issues’ features (aside from the aforementioned) include Ralph Mayo, Ruben Moriera, Jack Kamen, Jill Elgin, Frank Frollo, Rudy Palais, Jack Ryan, Klaus Nordling, Ken Battefield, Charles Quinlan and others.
Another important volume shedding light on the history of the female adventure hero in comics’ first decade- don’t miss it. Men of Mystery #114, 140 black and white pages inside a full-color reworked Joe Doolin cover; standard comic book size, saddle stitched, at $29,95. Coming in April, 2020, from AC Comics

Merry Christmas sale! 50% off!

Posted on Category:AC Comics News

Hi Folks! 50% off storewide on the AC store till new year’s!

For those looking for back issues of our current color comics, one of the major consequences of going back into color comics is because of cost and logistics, we are not printing much overage on our color books, meaning it will be unlikely we will offer a quantity of back-issues for sale going forward as we do on our black and white books, like Men of Mystery. We wish it wasn’t this way, but we have been explaining this pretty clearly in our editorials over the last year or so. You’ll have to pre-order them through a comic retailer or find them on ebay.

Stephanie has been a long-time creative contributor to AC Comics on Femforce, Image’s Big Bang series and others and is the driving force behind the 21st Centurions which is a slightly-futuristic take on flashy teen super-teams; mixing SF, superheroics, relationships and conspiracies with fashion and pop culture in a brightly-colored world just a few beats past our own. Synopsis: FULL COLOR third issue!! In an offbeat, untold story out of the past, an inexperienced SYNN faces a reprobate who has stumbled on the ULTIMATE POWER in “Come And See Uncle Jon’s Band”- a FEMFORCE story like no other!! PLUS- the eerie ORIGIN of the hideous villainess GORGANA!!

Special Notes: None

The awesome third issue of AC’s bold new FULL COLOR Femforce title, SUPERBABES; will be coming your way in January, 2020!!
Long-time FEMFORCE readers know that SYNN is probably THE most unique character in the group- if not in all of comics. Not only had she never intended to become “a heroine”, but the unfathomable reality-changing power she had thrust upon her , left unchecked, COULD be THE greatest threat to the universe as we know it. Taken into the FEMFORCE team with the thought that Ms. VICTORY, NIGHTVEIL, SHE-CAT and the others would have the best shot at averting calamity should she ever lose control, early missteps in her FF career ACTUALLY got SYNN banished to ANOTHER DIMENSION for several decades JUST to keep our reality safe! But, there were some early SYNN triumphs as well, and the lead story in SUPERBABES #3 relates one of them, set in the 1970’s.
When law-enforcement authorities come to the FF to look into some mysterious occurances and team leader Ms. VICTORY dismisses them as “out of the FF’s line”, SYNN is given “the case” as a way to keep her occupied and out of the team’s hair for awhile. Little does anyone suspect that the incredible power that a one-in-ten-billion-chance accident bestowed upon a down-and-out musician could end up a threat to the world as we know it. No one but SYNN could stop him, and when she does (in her own inimitable fashion), NO ONE- not even her own FF teammates-knows that she HAS. It’s all in “Come And See Uncle Jon’s Band”, written by Mark Heike, with art by Stephanie and Mark Heike.
Then, it’s the untold story behind the hideous, man-hating GORGANA- a villainess that’s been around since the FF’s FIRST in-print appearance in 1980. You’ll finally find out WHO she is and how she got that way in “Heir Of The Gorgon That Bit Me”, written by Stephanie Heike, with art by Stephanie and Mark Heike.
The new AC Comics color line has garnered quite a bit of positive attention throughout the industry since we debuted it this summer- jump on the AC bandwagon before it passes you by. We may have been around for 36 years already, but the BEST is YET to come!
Be sure to tell your retailer to order SUPERBABES#3 from the November 2019 issue of Diamond’s Previews catalog, for items shipping in January 2020. SUPERBABES #3- great “good girl” art and superheroic action in unusual stories in FULL COLOR, digitally printed on glossy stock, for $5.95, from AC Comics.

FEMFORCE creator BILL BLACK returns on script and art. with help from FF fan-favorite ERIC COILE on pencils! Backup co-features the SENTINELS of JUSTICE!!
Special Notes: None

A new era begins at AC COMICS in December 2019 as the long-running FEMFORCE title (published in black and white since 1995) moves to COLOR with issue #188!!

The positive response AC continues to receive on it’s initial pair of color releases; SUPERBABES and 21st CENTURIONS have led us to turn the ongoing FEMFORCE quarterly into a standard 32-pager in FULL DIGITAL COLOR on GLOSSY PAPER!! Cover price will go DOWN with this landmark issue as well (when is the last time you heard THAT?), from the $9.95 level that FF has been at since issue #150, to ONLY $5.95!!!

As if all THAT is not enough excitement, FEMFORCE CREATOR ( and AC COMICS Editor Emeritus) BILL BLACK returns to write (and ink!) this issues’ lead story; “Treachery, Thy Color Is Crimson”! Longtime FEMFORCE nemesis ALIZARIN CRIMSON pops up to menace each member of the FF team in their dreams in a plot to keep NIGHTVEIL from her all-powerful Cloak of Darkness. The Mystic Miss has been WITHOUT that awesome weapon since 2014- this saga begins to unravel the HOW and WHY.

Pencils on this historic adventure will be provided by ERIC COILE. ERIC has illustrated numerous FEMFORCE tales since 1994, and his renditions of Ms. VICTORY, SHE-CAT, SYNN, TARA and STARDUST are among the very favotites among long-time FEMFORCE readers.

The story itself is a touchstone to numerous memorable moments in AC COMICS history (and a good “jumping-on” point for new readers) , and guest-stars RIO RITA, The BLUE BULLETEER, AZAGOTH, CAPTAIN PARAGON, PROXIMA, The KRONONS, RIP-JAW, STELLA STARGAZE, The BLACK COMMANDO, RICHARD and NIKKI LATIMER, PRINCE BACCARRATTI, The RED BUTCHER, and LUCIFER SAM. NOT to be missed!!

The issue’s back-up story is the conclusion of a four-part retro epic relating the hitherto-untold conflict (from the 1980’s) showcasing NIGHTVEIL and STARDUST in their battle against the unearthly weirdness of NEGEEMA; pre-FEMFORCE fighting with The SENTINELS of JUSTICE- with appearances by The SCARLET SCORPION and COMMANDO D. This one is written, penciled, inked and colored by BILL BLACK, working solo!! How many times in comic book history has a LEGENDARY CREATOR at the PEAK of his creative powers RETURNED to his MAGNUM OPUS 35 years AFTER its inception? See it here in this HISTORIC FEMFORCE #188.

And make no mistake- THIS issue is NO one-shot special in terms of format OR creative talent. From #188 on, FEMFORCE continues as a standard-sized, FULL DIGITAL COLOR quarterly at $5.95, written and drawn by BILL BLACK and ERIC COILE, just as LONG as fans and readers want to SEE it!! All the fun starts in FEMFORCE #188; now 32 pages in FULL DIGITAL COLOR inside of full-color covers, coming in December, 2019- now ONLY $5.95 from AC Comics!!

The thrilling second issue of AC’s smashingly successful new FULL COLOR Femforce title, SUPERBABES; will be coming your way in October, 2019!!
Anyone who knows anthing about The FEMFORCE is aware of the fact that in addition to being intelligent, talented and supremely-skilled crimefighters, the team is made up of six beautiful, unique and glamorous women. SUPERBABES #2 will pit the Ms. VICTORY, NIGHTVEIL, SHE-CAT, SYNN, TARA and STARDUST against two of their most grotesque (not to mention dangerously powerful) distaff foes whose joining of forces MAY portend far worse villainy yet to come!!
WAMPYR came into the AC Universe as a vampire with great skills in the Black Arts, originally vanquished and destroyed millenia ago but accidentally reanimated and brought into the present by NIGHTVEIL herself. After a long, ongoing storyline (that culminated in the sold-out FEMFORCE #170), the simultaneous application of a magical spell of permanence AND the synesthrophic physical alteration of her skull left her with the body of a “normal” (albeit undead) woman and the head of a GIANT BEE! Subdued by the FF, she had been imprisoned at the enigmatic Colorado Complex while the technicians there studied her bizarre condition.
GORGANA actually predates AC Comics itself, having made her first appearance in THE VERY FIRST FEMFORCE story EVER PUBLISHED in Bill Black’s Paragon Publications’ Femzine #1, released in 1980. This bizarre , three-eyed creature with the ability to temporarily paralyze any male AND impersonate any female has been intermittently bedeviling NIGHTVEIL, The FEMFORCE team, and various and sundry members of the AC Universe ever since. Recently, a GORGANA scheme to siphon the energies of the FF’s ally FIREBEAM went afoul, which allowed the FF to pack HER off into protective custody at the Colorado Complex as well.
Can we be SUPRISED that these two gals, united by their hideous deformaties, antisocial tendancies and hatred of The FEMFORCE became FAST FRIENDS within the confines of the Colorado Complex Maximum Security Detention Center? Once they manage to break out and win their freedom, is anyone anywhere safe? Find out in SUPERBABES #2, in “Heads I Win, Tails You Ooze” written by Mark and Stephanie Heike, with art by Javier Lugo and Jeff Austin, and colors by Stephanie Heike.
As a special bonus (and a thank-you to all the loyal FF readers who bought SUPERBABES #1). Superbabes #2 will come with a special alternate cover offer. ‘Way back in the early 1990’s, a young artist did a few FEMFORCE stories for AC Comics. He also did a cover on spec; a huge and impressive oversized painting of the FF’s magical maiden, NIGHTVEIL. Due to the limits of printing technology (and budgetary considerations related to same) at the time, it was never used. AC comics and the young artist went in different directions, and drifted out of touch. In the intervening years, that artist came to have no small measure of success, not only in the world of comics , but on the covers of many other general interest and mass-market publications and commercial art applications world-wide. That artist’s name is Greg Horn, and Greg is allowing AC Comics to finally publish that NIGHTVEIL painting as an alternate cover to Superbabes #2.
Superbabes #2 will ship packed in a 4:1 ratio of standard Johannes Vick, Mark and Stephanie Heike FEMFORCE design A “regular” covers to special painted Greg Horn NIGHTVEIL design B “alternate”cover. That means that out of every FIVE copies of this book that are shipped, ONE will feature a special GREG HORN painted cover design at no extra cost!!. So if you want to be certain that you get a copy of the Greg Horn cover SUPERBABES #2, make sure your retailer orders FIVE COPIES of the issue, and have him set aside that alternate cover version for you.
Be sure to tell your retailer to order SUPERBABES#2 from the August 2019 issue of Diamond’s Previews catalog, for items shipping in October. SUPERBABES #2- great “good girl” art and superheroic action in FULL COLOR, digitally printed on glossy stock, for $5.95, from AC Comics.
