Long-time readers of AC Comic’s historical reprints have lauded our little organization for our ability to ferret out, salvage and reprint some of the hardest-to-find and most unusual costumed superheroes of the 1940’s, and with Men of Mystery #115, we’ve pulled out ALL the STOPS in search of the rare AND unique. Oh, this issue WILL contain a few stories chronicling the adventures of heroes who HAVE appeared in MOM before- like cover star AMAZING MAN; HYDROMAN and JACK of SPADES- but these particular stories will be of the never-previously-seen variety, and truth to tell, MOST comics fans would consider THOSE characters obscure. The REAL “meat” of the issue will consist of stories starring such oddwad heroes as The THUNDERBOLT, AJAX the SUN MAN, The GREY MASK, IRON MUNRO, The RED KNIGHT and The BLACK CRUSADER. It’s even difficult to find exemplary stories starring THESE guys ONLINE!! We’re also throwing in heroes that use some of the strangest concepts of the 1940’s, as well: how about a jovial, good natured avenging ghost-who-walks- The DUKE of DARKNESS (with art by Sam Cooper); a guy who becomes a hero by stopping a crime on the way to a costume party- John Giunta’s CAPTAIN COMBAT; an unlikely-named, masked and costumed avenger who patrols the rain forest with his partner, a black panther- the Binder brothers’ REX KING; a scientist who can channel his consciousness into the artificial body of a robot (a’la The THUNDER AGENTS’ NoMan), The IRON GHOST; comicdom’s first handicapped man as a superhero, Alan Mandel’s WAR EAGLE; and a hero that’s just plain crazy, Bill Woolfolk and John Giunta’s The MAD HATTER. If you think you’ve “seen it all”, and that comic book superheroes are just retreads of “the same old thing”, check out this collection. You’re likely to be surprised by what you see. That’s Men of Mystery #115, 140 pages of standard-sized, saddle-stitched, high-quality, black and white vintage reprints, inside a full color cover, for $29.95
