This is the actual, vintage Golden Age comic book published by United Features Syndicate in December, 1940. This 64 page comic is complete, and through most of the title’s long run it was best known for it’s reprinting of popular newspaper strips like Tarzan, Li’l Abner, Captain and the Kids, Iron Vic, Jim Hardy, Fritzi Ritz, Ella Cinders, Broncho Bill, Hawkshaw the Detective, Tailspin Tommy, Abby n’ Slats, Phil Fumble, and Little Mary Mixup- and they are all here. But the REAL gems in this copy are examples of United Features rare forays into original costumed heroes, one story each starring The Mirror Man and the 3-hero team known as The Triple Terror. I am not a professional comic grader, I am simply selling some comics out of my collection, so I’m going to list this books’ defects as best I can. Please check the photos that go with this listing for more details on it’s relative condition. This book’s cover shows some water damage, including a dark stain about 3″ X 2″ across the top of the cover running from the “P” in Tip across to the “O” in Top. There is also a 1 1/2″ tear down from the top through that stain which does show “white”. Top right corner ( 1/8″ X 1/4″) of the cover is missing; right edge of cover tight, clean and smooth up to 7″ down from the top, where a 1/16″ X 3/8″ piece is missing from the right edge. Bottom right corner (1/16″ X 1/4″) is missing. Otherwise, the bottom edge is solid 5 1/2″ in from the right corner where a 1/8″ square/irregular piece is missing. Also, an irregular/triangular piece 1/2″ X 1/2″ is missing at the lower left corner. Overall, the cover has a bit of gloss, but is brittle around the edges. Interiors show slight browning, more at top and bottom edges than anywhere else. Additionally, the same water stain seen on the cover carries over and affects the first 7 or 8 interior pages. Interior pages top and bottom right corners are rounded; mainly a function of those parts of the cover being gone. No other real damage to the interior pages, though they are a bit brittle. Back cover is a little dirty; particularly at the top where the water stain shows and along the spine. All back cover corners are slightly rounded, although all three edges are smooth and straight. A complete copy of a pretty early Golden Age comic sporting two VERY obscure heroes.
